The Devil, Probably
This is one of the last Bresson films, where his film making, as we saw it in A Man Escaped during our Film Days in February, has found its completion. Here Bresson pictures a dark world…but is it really som dark.  Some young people in Paris, engagement, dispair and..perhaps more.
“Even by Robert Bresson’s own unique standards, The Devil, Probably, coming late in the director’s career, is his most Bressonian. Probably. In his use of non-professional actors as models, blankly reciting the text with minimal acting; in his stripping away of narrative drive and reducing the purpose of the film down to the most essential and unadorned form of expression…”

PROGRAM Week May 21st-27th – PENTACOSTE

Hello again, some students asked me yesterday why we celebrate Ascension. They were baptized in the Church of Sweden, but hadn´t any contact with Christian faith. Well, they are not alone. What has been Christian practice and faith is getting more and more unknown in Western society. I don´t think it´s just that people should go to church, but it´s something more deep – a perspective of life  which is not centered around our own needs, The Great  Illusion of “I”.
Christ has certainly something to propose also in this time – the perspective of hope and togetherness – not in a sentimental och purely subjective way – just the certainty of not being left alone. Life stands just in front of us, jumping into us whenever we give up our selfcenteredness.
We have a great community in Domino. People meet, pray, enjoy things, share and get friends. It´s so much goodness gathered around here. But how  to make this really enter our lives ?
We could share this also with others, going out creating new praying communities, new circles of friends wanting to be followers of Christ. So that the messgae of God´s love spreads out, futher out. I see, there are many preachers around…let this get mature and bear fruits.Think of that! It´s Pentacost – the Spirit comes!  See you! yours br Björn

DOMINO WEEK May 6th – May12th

Hello,
haven´t you got time enough?  Are you busy? Lack of time…not only in May, but certainly in May… It seems almost as something unevitable that it´s like that. – For many, but not for all. Because many people has too much time and cannot find out anything to do. Too much, or too little – in any case ruled by time you could say. As if time existed! Time -a part of an over-rationalistic world, where things are all counted in minutes: “Let´s meet 20.25″.  -  Time and money as ruling principles- certainly this is interrelated, in a dominant ideology of our age.
But  – are we not called out from slavery? Also from slavery under time (and money).  Are we not taken out to an immense freedom, by the ressurtection of Christ? Where can we look for this freedom? How can we simplify our lives, so that time does not rule us anylonger?
Well, simplify, it´s a question of choice and priority – but also of perspective. To be with God is to take a step back and get perspective. The more busy – the longer and intenser prayers! – So that we do not get caught up, but advance in freedom. Let´s look at our days, pray, get perspective – and say NO to things that are not so important…yours br Björn

DOMINO Apr 29th – May 5th

Hi,
Do you believe in the resurrection? Do you believe? How far is not faith from ordinary life today, like a separate compartment with its own world…
And yet it is not!  Because faith is working us from inside, making us wonder, admire life, wanting life and even love each others sometimes…
We had  discussion after the film we saw last Sunday, A Serious Man by the Coen Brothers. David said they were making fun of religion. I claimed they were not. Perhaps both of us has a point there. It is surely a film that makes fun of religion – though perhaps not  the inner sense of religion, the desire for truth and life.  We meet in this film a religious community as social culture: people helping each other certainly, but also adjusting values so that everything runs smoothly. The worst transgressor, Sy, remains a respected member of the community, and  Lawrence who looses family, money and his home, the victim of Sy´s  unjustice, learns from his community that “you should change perspective and discover teh wonders of life”.
God, in the meaning of living, merciful God, seems to come in secon place in this business.
How can we maintain a sain view of religion and faith? Perhaps by questioning ourselves on our ways, not only in the religious field, but also in society in general. Be sure, God is helping us in this, working us from inside.

THURSDAY May 3rd, 7.15 pm
-Film and Discussion: Fargo by the Coen brothers. USA 1996, 98 min.
“Every shot of Fargo is executed like it’s a piece of art with the Coens’ typical style; there is nothing at all wasted in the film, as the Coens make even what would normally be dull establishing scenes fun. Also, while Fargo is as black as black comedy can get, it isn’t completely over the edge. More restrained- the Coens have truly found their stride.” Filmcritic.com

DOMINO THIS WEEK Apr 22nd-28th

hi, it´s always like that – now when end of Spring approaches people are getting to know each others a bit better. And then only a month or two is left for many to be in Lund. We have to deal today with all those departures and comings, the rapid changes of a fluid reality.
Even more important then to be present at the place where  weare, standing steadily on our feet and then walk again – also steadily. To be present: I mean to be interested in what is happening in this particular place, get into relations, understand and – love all those differencies.  We see in the Gospel how Jesus is coming and going – like us – but also how every new situation is of interest for him- he engages with people wherever he meets with them, if they want to.
This demands something from us, this taking interest in new situations and people. We get easily hurt and soon we will leave each others. But there is also so much to win, love and understanding: Who is my neighbour? – Then one that happens sit next to me.
yours br Björn

GLAD PÅSK – Happy Easter

.. and Christ is resurrected! And with this act of ultimate giving, accepting to be put on the cross, he made a way for us – a way out of our lonelyness and sorrow, coming back to what we are, the image of God. Man as God, we becoming deified through his Spirit. Do you see the movement? Giving out life- receiving life.  What could we do, I do? Slowly (or quickly) accept that we are loved, and love- we can love. And that love makes everything possible,

Nolwenn is now baptized and this was a great occasion of community for us present this Easter night.

OBS! This week no Student Mass on Wednesday!

Glad Påsk, see you, yours br Björn
