Church coffee 22nd of April

Hi everybody!

I think it is time for our group to contribute a bit to our parish St. Thomas. Every Sunday, after the 10.00 mass (in Swedish), we have a wonderful tradition of church coffee. This is an opportunity to meet and talk with people in the parish. To be able to have this, the parish needs people to prepare the church coffee every Sunday.

On Sunday the 22nd of April, our group will prepare church coffee!

This means that we need to:

• Bake some cakes (for about 80 people)
• Prepare coffee and tea water before mass (be there at 9.00 am)
• Put the cakes on plates, cut them
• Serve everything
• Clean the tables, wash the dishes (Finnish about 1.00 p.m.)

The money goes to the parish, but you can take the money you spent on baking.

If we are many, we can split the tasks. I propose we can split into following:

- baking

- preparing (9.00 a.m. – 10 a.m.)

- serving (11 – 11.30)

- cleaning (11.30 a.m. – about 1 p.m.)

I will make a list and put it at the convent (where we gather). Please put your name by the task that you want to take. You are welcome to take several tasks.

Friday prayer

During lent we will have morning prayers on Fridays at 8.00 followed by breakfast together. Come and join us for a beautiful way to start the day!

Advent Prayer – Fridays at 8.00

The coming Fridays in advent, let us gather for a morning prayer at 8.00 at the priory and then share a breakfast together.

The prayer will take about 20 minutes. We will sing and pray in candel light awaiting the birth of Jesus.

Meditation together in silence – Thursdays

THURSDAYS  from SEP 15th at 4.30-5 pm:    -Meditation -silent sitting.  From 4.10 pm: possibility of short introduction.

Hi, we have a beautiful chapel at Sandgatan, and the brothers and others use it for silent meditation or contemplation- and on Thursday afternoons a particular Meditation time, sitting together in silence inspired of the zen-tradition: Just sitting and exercising this sitting in a special posture – without other purpore than to sit in presence of this present moment and what it proposes to us. Meditation is a practice of  “letting go” – to receive rather than to take and brings fruits to those practice regulary.

Football again this Saturday 4pm

Hi all,

This Saturday September 3 we play football again. Let’s meet at Sandgatan 8 (Dominicans) at 4pm. After football we could have a dinner together and then do something.

DOMINOS ÅRSMÖTE OCH MIDDAG

Hej, nu på torsdag 14 april har Domino årsmöte kl 18.
Efter bönen kl 19 bjuder jag på middag och så kan vi prata om vad vi gör – mest med fokus på om vi kan göra något svenkspråkigt tillsammans + mer öppet för intresserade  ickekatoliker. Cecilia Bergman från SUK kommer att vara med.

JOIN OUR DAY – SAT 26TH!

Hi, join for the Taizé Day – pray with other Christians in the Cathedral – it will be very beautiful, I assure you! And meet with each others for a day.

PROGRAM SATURDAY 26TH
12.15 pm       Gathering at Sandgatan, to go together to the Cathedral.

1pm                  Prayer in the Cathedral -  followed by:  Bibleintroduction by br Matthew from Taizé,

4 pm               Workshops in three different locations on the theme: TRUST.

5.30 pm          Gathering with nice program at Sandgatan followed by dinner.

- bring also friends to make this a real good occasion of universal friendship
For those who wish so, there is song practice in the Cathedral at 7 pm

8pm                Walk to the Cathedral – Prayer starts 8.30 -  the Cathedral with be lit up by our candles.

SUNDAY
- there will be a protestant service in the Cathedral with a Taizétheme. But—  there are differences between the churches, and Catholics do not go to communion in a Protestant service. So this Sunday I recommend you to go to a Catholic Mass as usually.

VOLUNTEERING
This meeting is organized on the bases of volunteers. Let us contribute, those who can. Some will be asked for special tasks. As a volunteer you will meet and work with Christians from other churches.
Please tell me if you can join as volunteer and on which occasion – it will not be demanded too much.  At Sandgatan there will be papers to sign in during the coming week.

Fri 9 am         Help to put away all the chairs in the Cathedral.

Sat  11 am      Volunteers meet at the info-table in the cathedral at 11.00, you will get a task there.

Sun 11.15     Preparing a meal for all the volunteers at Sandgatan – and join for the meal.

You can also sing in the choir during the prayers  – tell me before.

hej, you who´ve been to the introduction on meditation last Thursday – this and every Thursday there is meditation from 4.30 -5 pm, proceeded by possibility for questions, talk etc from 4.10.   Also others welcome, of course, yours br Björn
