Did we forget how to cry?

the past few weeks pope Francis continued to make moves of the Spirit. When meeting with African refugees at the Italian island of Lampedusa, where they arrive with boats, risking their lives – there he said: Our culture forgot how to cry.
In another context he said:
” What is in charge today isn´t the human person, but money. Money is in command. And God our Father has given us the task of caring for earth not for money. This is our charge. Instead, men and women are sacrified to the idols of profit and consumption. It´s a “culture of waste”.”Did we forget to cry? Are we treating people like garbage? Today, Sunday July 14th,  church all over the world reads the story of the merciful Samarian in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 10.
Read that story of your own, take some time to reflect of the systems of society we are adhering to, and of how you in your heart would like to be with other people- and yourself. Remind: it´s the outcast, the Samarian, that shows mercy to a suffering man in the story. Can we be unconventional like him? Finding fresh ways? God is love. Christ is love in our hearts. How can we express this love, make it real in this world?

Newsletter Summer 2013

Dear friends,
with the end of the university semester this month of June many of our friends have been leaving Lund after a longer or shorter stay- Ajosh, Sungyeon, Anne-Laure, Egle, Clara, Louisa, Wilbert, Birgitta, Elisabeth, Veronika, among others. It’s always sad to see the others leave after having shared so much. But that’s life, full of losses, departures, disconnexions. We stay with all these friends in our prayers, hoping for them, keeping them in our heart.
Life is  very much this:  fidelity – and welcoming what is coming to us next. The UN General Secretary in the 1950ies, the Swede Dag Hammarskjöld said in his diary: ” To what has been:  Thank you. To what is coming: Welcome”. This is the flow of life given to us, which make us advance if accepting it; remembering with gratitude, and facing future without fear. Our participation in God makes this way possible.

The basic thing with Domino is our prayers – it is on them and the relationship with God, opened in them, that other things are based. The prayers makes  our community possible. We have a lot of sharing on life, taking about our questions. And we read good books, not only, but also the Bible. All this forms us in the light of God. He who is  love only helps us,  he opens our hearts, and make our lives beautiful. Not of special, good people, but of those asking him for help.

Domino is one thing. Now I would like to ask you to reflect:
How can I, while staying in Lund or when coming back to my  country, use what is given to me, and give it to others. Can I participate in introducing others in prayers, help others to pray. Could I  help young people discover the living and caring God in their lives?  You don’t have to be a priest or a theologian to do this. You just have to make use of your faith, your hope and your interest in life, and it will work out. Trust in life, trust in God, and you put a solid foundation to what you are doing. Give me a sign of your thoughts,
And enjoy summer!
